This Omega watch is in overall great, honest vintage condition. The case is strong with scratches and some light nicks along the edges. The case appears to have been lightly polished. The bezel is in good condition with light wear and light scratches. It has an indentation on the side at two o'clock. This watch has retained its correct 24 tooth crown. The dial is in overall excellent condition with light patina. The lume on the dial has aged to an attractive pale greenish color. The hands are in great condition. The lume in the hands has aged to a similar color as the lume on the dial. When looking closely the lume in the hour and minutes hands have developed a bit of darker patina. The bracelet is in great condition with normal signs of wear and scratches; it has a bit of stretch which is not uncommon for this style bracelet. The crystal has some scratches and is signed with the Omega symbol in the center.
Omega produced the vintage Speedmaster Professional ref. 145.022 for several years between 1968 and the 1980s, during which several variations came to market. While there are many nuances between each variation, they all follow the same Speedmaster Pro blueprint consisting of a Tachymeter bezel, a chronograph movement, and three accompanying sub-dials. Ref. 145.022-78ST is a striking edition of the series produced in 1979. It features an even patina throughout the dial, a Hesalite crystal, and the caliber 861 hand-wound movement - the successor to the famous caliber 321. The dial is not a step dial Omega; it also sports a "Long S" in the Speedmaster logo. Flipping the watch over, the case back has the distinction "Flight-Qualified by NASA For All Manned Space Missions" circling the Speedmaster Seahorse medallion—just a few of the many details that make this edition of the Speedmaster 145.022 unique.
